Course Description


ELK7180 Wavelet Based Methods in Signal and Image Processing

Introduction. Multiresolution Expansions, wavelet functions. One dimensional wavelet transforms, wavelet series expansions, continuous and discrete wavelet transform. Fast wavelet transform. Two dimensional wavelet transform. Wavelet packets. Signal and image processing applications.

Giriş. Çokluçözünürlüklü açılımlar, dalgacık fonksiyonları. Bir boyutlu dalgacık dönüşümleri, dalgacık seri açılımları, sürekli ve ayrık dalgacık dönüşümü. Hızlı dalgacık dönüşümü. İki boyutlu dalgacık dönüşümü. Dalgacık paketleri. İşaret ve görüntü işleme uygulamaları 

 
Prerequisites: ELK207 (or BIL202), ELKH405 (or SEC302), SECH407 (or SEC401), MATLAB Experience

Grading:  Midterm-1     30 %
                   Midterm-2     30 %
                   Final              40 %


Make-up Policy:
Only one make-up examination will be given to those who miss any of the midterms or the final. The student who wishes to take the make-up exam must provide a valid excuse after the missed exam.

NG Policy:
NG grade will be given to students who do not attend more than 70% of the course lecture hours, miss the exams and fail.
